ALEX MACLEAN
Composition
This photo was taken at an arial viewpoint. The photo has an asymmetrical balance between the trees and fences. It does follow the rule of thirds. I don't think that there is a definite focal point, although my eye is drawn to the tree in the center. The photograph is horizontal, which I think is important to the balance in the photo. There isn't a large sense of depth because of the angle at which the photo was taken. The composition of the shadows in the photo create leading lines that lead the viewer's eye through it.
Reflection
I feel that the most successful part of this photo is the way the shadows fall. It happened to be luck that Maclean was in the right place at the right time of day. Although it would still be a strong piece without the shadows, I think they enhance the photo a lot.
