FAMILY PORTRAIT
These pictures I took for my family portrait represent 2/3 of my family (my mom refuses to take pictures). The first two photos are of my little sister. Out of the two, my favorite is the black and white portrait. Her facial expression shows her youth and innocence, which is something that I love about her. Changing the photo to black and white makes the viewer focus on her rather than the colors. The point of view (slightly downward) emphasizes her small stature and once again shows her age. The third and final photo is of my dad's hands. I chose to photograph his hands because I think they have character and show his age. He is a working man, therefore his hands have old scars and wrinkles. The background of grainy wood helps to set the masculine tone. Another element I liked was his wedding ring. The shiny metal adds a personal detail that helps to tell his story.
